Buddy Dive & Blennies

My kids love to spend the day at Buddy Dive, and we join them for dinner at Blennies.  Buddy Dive is a fantastic resort, and super welcoming to non-resort guests visiting their facilities.  Our kids tend to visit early and make a day out of enjoying their pool, water access and beach beds. Set high up from the water, their sun beds are on soft sand beach just in front of the pool.  The pool has is very refreshing, with a swim up bar. As most of you know, we are not divers, but love snorkeling. Buddy Dive has a great dock, and the kids (& me, too!) will enter the lovely Caribbean sea and swim around enjoying all the amazing sea life.

We always have at least one meal while using their facilities, sometimes two. Blennies is on site,

very low key and super convenient.  The food is good, but the sunset is what really makes this bar type restaurant spectacular.  I was pleasantly surprised with the service this year – they really stepped it up. We came back a second evening to meet a friend for drinks at the bar, and were entertained by a local musician.

Enjoy !

Enjoy Ingridients Restaurant

Ingridients Restaurant Bonaire

Ingridients Restaurant, located in the Buddy Dive Resort is a treat for all Bonaire visitors. We enjoy everything about Ingridients – the food, the view, the atmosphere, the service – just absolutely wonderful. The restaurant overlooks the sea with a breathtaking view of the sunset.

And yes, that is spelled correctly, the restaurant was named for its owner, Ingrid.

As posted on their website, Ingridients uses locally produced fresh ingredients with dishes inherent to the Mediterranean cuisine, using the basic principles of French, Spanish and Italian cooking. Their chefs are constantly experimenting with new flavors and texture combinations by selecting only the freshest seasonal produce. Their menu changes seasonally with many daily specials.

We enjoy dining with the entire family at Ingridients Restaurant.

Located in the  Buddy Dive resort, directly adjacent to the Buddy Dive bar and restaurant, affords a lot of flexibility. Our children are older, and at times have decided to visit the more relaxed restaurant at Buddy Dive while Steve & I enjoy a couples evening.  Buddy Dive has a great bar with a fantastic daily happy hour.  The 5 of us enjoy cocktails and mocktails. The kids stay and enjoy the restaurant and pool while Steve and I walk over to the finer dining experience offered a few feet away.

A Relaxing Beach Day on Bonaire

Villa Lunt Bonaire Spice Beach

A wonderful way to spend a relaxing beach day while on Bonaire is to visit Spice Beach Club. Complete with a pool, lounge chairs, bar restaurant and finer dining restaurant, you will find you are left with nothing to want for. There are lounge chairs are situated both in the sun and in the shade, overlooking the sea and others overlooking the pool. Spice Beach club has a dock which offers boat taxi service to Klein Bonaire (little Bonaire) where you can spend a few hours on a remote quiet beach.

While enjoying your relaxing beach day at Spice Beach, the staff of the restaurant bar will take your drink and lunch orders. The shore line is calm and quiet – a perfect combination to go for a swim, or watch as your children swim in the beautiful blue waters. There is a floating dock a short swim from the shore. We enjoy snorkeling around the docks and swimming towards Coco beach.  If you stay into the evenings, you will be treated to the warmth and romance of the firepits.

Most Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings there is a nice happy hour with great drinks, live music and lots of dancing. Spice Beach Club also has a lovely finer dining restaurant, which is perfect for a lovely sunset dining experience. Many Sunday mornings, the restaurant will setup a Breakfast Buffet which is wonderful!

Please visit the website – Spice Beach – for additional information.

Bonaire Beaches And Food Trucks – Make a Day Out Of It

Te Amo Beach Bonaire

Several beaches on Bonaire have acquired food trucks.  Where I am from, we associate food trucks with grease trucks – that is NOT the case on Bonaire.  These food trucks have incredible tastings from land and sea.  It’s the prefect mix of unspoiled, quiet beaches with fabulous, high quality food and thirst quenching drink.

We’ve always been a fan of Te’Amo beach with the Kite City Food Truck, where I had the most amazing and fresh tuna.  Te’Amo beach is located across from the airport, just past Port Bonaire. Find them by searching @kitecitybonaire on Facebook. They advertise being open everyday.

Cactus Blue Mobile Food Truck at Donkey Beach (dive site #37) serving burgers, lionfish burgers and wraps with a smile.  You can find the most updated information on Facebook by searching Cactus Blue Bonaire. They advertise being open Monday – Friday 11-3.

A recent guest raved about the King Kong Food truck at Bachelor’s Beach. Serving, among other things, gourmet burgers, hotdogs and fries – they offer something for everyone. Bachelor’s beach is a short drive past Donkey beach (dive site #38). They advertise being open most days.

If you decide to spend day at one of these beaches, feel free to take some of the beach chairs from our garage. You are also welcome to bring the pool towels (with the Villa Lunt logo) as well. If you have snorkel gear, bring it along.

We recommend you check the respective facebook pages for truck availability on the day you plan to go. As is the nature of mobile food trucks, their staff is small, and there are days they may not make it to the beach. However, these 3 beaches are in a row on Eeg Boulevard, if the first beach doesn’t have the truck, just keep driving 🙂

At Sea Restaurant

At Sea Restaurant Bonaire Villa Lunt Bonaire

At Sea Restaurant in Bonaire has been a top rated Caribbean restaurant for many years. The food is spectacular – beautifully presented, amazing tastes of local and imported cuisine! Each time we visit Bonaire, we try to plan an evening At Sea. Their menu is available on line and they usually offer a surprise menu as well. The restaurant is well-suited for a family meal as well, and our kids do enjoy going – but we prefer the treat of a romantic couples evening.

At Sea restaurant is located on the boulevard with beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. At Sea has a bar, terrace  and an indoor room with air conditioning. We have experienced At Sea dining in each seating area, and find  we prefer to sit on the terrace under the large umbrellas. The Bonaire trade winds keeps us very comfortable and if you make an early enough reservation, you an enjoy a glass of wine and gaze at the beautiful Bonaire sunset.

The service is wonderful and the owners are usually on site.

Their website claims  “the finest dishes you can find on Bonaire we Strive to make your evening one out of a million!” We think they meet these expectations!

Call for reservations as they do book up.
