We’ve posted on here about all the restaurants we love in Bonaire. From beach side food trucks to casual dining to cafes and high end restaurants, Bonaire has some of the best food in the Caribbean.

We enjoyed finding this article about Bonaire’s amazing cuisine.

We are big fans of the beach side food trucks and have blogged about them before. Seeing this great picture on the cover of the article really kept us wanting for more of Bonaire cuisine. Each of the restaurants they mention, we enjoyed ourselves, and highly recommend. If you read through our restaurant blog, you will likely find more information on most of the. There are a few we still want to write about – so keep any eye out!

Sebastian’s Sunday Night Menu

We have always been a fan of Sebastian’s Restaurant on Bonaire. The food is amazing, the views are unbelievable, the atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is awesome, and have we mentioned the views?

The pier table, pictured above, is available first come first serve, with no extra charge. If you are fortunate enough to reserve this table, it will be an evening to remember.

Sebastian’s recently introduced a Sunday Night Italian menu. Delicious and reasonable – at the time of writing this post traditional Italian appetizers and home-made pizza’s and pasta’s were only $16 – Sebastian’s is a wonderful option for a relaxing, laid back Sunday night meal with family and friends.

The restaurant opens at 5:30 PM & reservations are always highly recommended. The kitchen closes at 9:00 PM on Sundays.

Take-away pizza is also available; simply phone in your order to +599 717-1697.

Pizza’s may be ordered “half-half” as well.

Thanksgiving on Bonaire

Escape the cold, wind, snow and rain this Thanksgiving. Bonaire, located in southern Caribbean, and a municipality of the Netherlands, celebrates many of the American holidays. Thanksgiving is no exception! Many of the restaurants will host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

Our favorite place to celebrate Thanksgiving on Bonaire is at Rum Runners Restaurant, overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Offering a delicious buffet dinner, with many traditional Thanksgiving dishes, and authentic Caribbean style drinks, Rum Runners is sure to be a holiday crowd pleaser. Their servers are wonderful, and cater to the American guests.

This year, on Thanksgiving, Rum Runners will have 2 seatings. The first seating is at 5:30 and the second at 8:00. Call Rum Runners for reservations for their fabulous Thanksgiving meal.

On our most recent visit to Bonaire, I needed a little down time. It was Janique to the rescue. Janique is a wellness trained Bonaire specialist. She offers manicures, pedicures, lower back massages, necks massages … Her service is wonderful and I high recommend her. You will find her phone number in the mobile phone we provide – +599 782 1687.

My friend Brenda & I opted for the manicure and pedicure. Next trip, I will try one of her massages. She has a table she can bring along as well.

Janique brings all the equipment with her, and sterilizes everything in front of you. She has an assortment of polish colors and all the tools necessary to give you a wonderful spa treatment right in the comfort of Villa Lunt.

Grab glass of wine, sit back, relax and pamper yourself. Then, jump in the pool

You know what they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

That’s always been one of many mottos for us here at Villa Lunt. We go out of our way to help you make the most of your vacation on Bonaire.

Our car got a flat tire. No worries, let us know where you are and our property manager will assist. It’s raining; no worries, go diving, you are under water any way! It’s too sunny (wait, what, do people really say that?); no worries, there is an umbrella in the garage for you to bring to the beach. The blender is broken; no worries, there is an extra one in the pantry. That one doesn’t work either; no worries, we’ll have a new one on the kitchen counter by the time you get home. By the way, we have extras of just about all of our electronics in the pantry – Bonaire is a small island, and not everything is available on island. Better to be prepared.

Last month, Villa Lunt itself suffered from a lemon; a leak under the tiled floor. This wouldn’t have been a problem if there was access to the leak, but there wasn’t. The floor needed to be raised and fully redone. No worries, we needed a new bathroom anyway. Adding additional luxury & comfort, Villa Lunt in Bonaire is the proud owner of a 4th full bathroom.

Bonaire International Airport Adds A Ramp

Flying into and out of Bonaire just got a little bit easier, especially for passengers requiring extra assistance at the airport. Bonaire International Airport, also known as Flamingo Airport, added 2 sized boarding ramps. One for larger aircraft, and one for smaller ones.

In the past, when your flight landed on Bonaire you would look at the window and see all the beautiful palm trees. As you were doing this, the ground crew would be rolling a metal staircase to the plane. All passengers would need to walk down these stairs and head toward customs. The addition of the gently sloped ramps create a more efficient boarding and disembarking process for all passengers

Bon Bini na Bonaire

Take a walk through the streets of Kralendijk and someone will likely say “Bon Bini” to you. They are welcoming you to Bonaire – Bon Bini na Bonaire.

Bonaire, the “B” of the ABC islands, belongs to a lot of different Caribbean groups. Along with Aruba and Curacao (A & C), Saba and Sint Eustatius, they make up the Dutch Caribbean. These 5 islands have direct ties to The Netherlands. They are all located in the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean Sea. The ABC islands, located in the southern part of the Lesser Antilles, are further part of the Leeward Antilles. Bonaire is also included in the “Caribbean Netherlands” along with Saba and Sint Eustatius, these three island are special municipalities of The Netherlands.

The second largest island in the Dutch Caribbean, Bonaire smaller than Curacao. However, it is actually larger than Aruba, yet Bonaire receives less visitors than its alphabet neighbors.

Bonaire is well known to divers as a Diver’s Paradise, which is written the license plates of all vehicles on Bonaire. In addition to diving, Bonaire is well known for windsurfing, kite surfing, snorkeling, and sailing. There are also many land activities including biking, hiking, bird watching and horse back riding. The restaurants on Bonaire are some of the best in the Caribbean.

Although a municipality of The Netherlands, Bonaire’s currency is the United States Dollar.

As we are deep into hurricane season, we always like to note, Bonaire is generally located outside (below) the hurricane belt.

Bonaire Regatta – October 10th to October 13th

This year will mark the 51st Bonaire Regatta where sailors from all over the Caribbean, in all classes and age levels, come together to compete against each other in a 4 day event. The daytime sailing competition will be in Playa, and the course runs between Bonaire and Klein Bonaire.

Bonaire Regatta is a big national celebration. In addition to the sailing races there will be festivals with 3 stages of live music, kids corners, food and arts & crafts stands. The streets of Kralendijk will come alive with something for everyone!

And the cost to be spectator? Free ! Come out and join the fun.

Mezze Restaurant

Our family enjoys Mediterranean food, so when we saw Mezze Restaurant, we knew we had to try it. It did not disappoint.

Mezze is a contemporary Mediterranean & Middle Eastern cuisine restaurant which interprets authentic flavors of Middle East with a modern approach through its Le Cordon Bleu alumni chef and his team. The soul of Mezze is homemade pita bread prepared fresh in wood fired oven as well as welcoming guests with ginger-hummus. Mezze’s menu varies from small cold starter plates such as hummus, baba gannoush, falafel, tabbouleh, tuna sashimi to Turkish Kebab and Moroccan chicken prepared on Charcoal grill or tenderloin dry aged beef or lamb shank, homemade baklava in pistachio, passion fruit cheesecake and more. Diners can relax and enjoy delicious plates with carefully selected wine menu at their ocean-front view.

The staff was very helpful, and everyone in our family found something they enjoyed. I ordered several appetizers, including the Istanbul Style Shrimp (yummy!) as my main course and was very satisfied. Steve had the Turkish Kebap and said it was fabulous.

The staff was attentive and the wine selection was lovely. We recommend calling ahead for reservations.

Breakfast With A View – La Creperie

Located in Kralendijk, with a wonderful view is La Creperie. With a menu full of French crepes and Belgian waffles, La Creperie offers fabulous options for breakfast, lunch, or just a yummy snack. Their choices include sweet and savory options and will surely offer something for everyone in your group. They also serve a variety beers and wines, coffee and cappuccino.

La Creperie recently redesigned their cafe with chic furniture. Offering free-wifi and an air conditioned space, you can spend some time watching the boats sail in as you relax in comfort.
